This class is a hands-on workshop for those responsible for the care, maintenance, and repair of book collections. Repair treatments covered in this course will include hinge tightening, flat paper mending, tip-ins, spine replacement, re-casing, and new casing. Participants are encouraged to bring books for analysis, treatment, and discussion.

Assessment of book repair needs
Conservation treatments of book structures
Paper repair for books
Toning tissue and cloth for repairs
Level of Experience / Skills Required
All levels; no prior book-making experience required. Some comfort with accurate measuring, folding, and cutting with blades/knives is needed to master the skills taught in this workshop.
All tools and materials included but students are welcome to bring their own small bookbinding tools.
