Preservation Enclosures

This one night workshop will cover two preservation enclosures commonly used in libraries and archives. The tuxedo (or Four-flap) enclosure wraps around the book, protecting it from light, dust, and loss of fragile binding materials. The Folger wrapper encloses the book but has a clear mylar spine so you can see the book within the enclosure. These simple enclosures will protect your books while on the shelves.

In this course you will learn:

How to use the bookbinding tools.
Knowledge of preservation materials and their qualities.
How to make two preservation enclosures.

Level of Experience / Skills Required

All levels; no prior book-making experience required.
