Hard Cover Book Structures

Are you ready to move beyond soft pamphlets or accordion books? This class will cover variations of hard-covered books with single and multiple sections. In class we will learn to make a pamphlet with board covers, a Sewn Board Binding, which opens flat, and lastly a case-bound book, similar to the books you may have at home. These structures are sewn and glued, covered in cloth and paper, and can be used as journals, sketchbooks, or artist books

In this course you will learn:

How to use the bookbinding tools.
Knowledge of bookmaking materials and their qualities.
Three (3) variations of hard cover books.
The skills to make more books for journals, sketchbooks, or artists’ books to your specifications.
